Hackney Voices – Celebrating 16 Years of Song!
Tuesdays, 7:30–9:25 PM
New Term Begins: Tuesday, 13th January 2026
Join Hackney Voices as we celebrate our 16th anniversary with a joyful new term of singing and community!
This much-loved choir brings together people from all walks of life to explore the vibrant musical traditions of Africa, the Caribbean, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, and Spain, along with British and Celtic folk and unique arrangements of original work and classic pop songs.
Led by Natural Voice Practitioners Cleo Bayley and Joanna Foster, Hackney Voices rehearse weekly at St James the Great Church, Clapton and perform across Hackney and beyond.
Sessions are welcoming, relaxed, and fully inclusive—everything is taught by ear, so no music reading or audition is required. Just bring your voice and your enthusiasm!
We meet in the beautiful acoustic space of St James the Great Church on the ground floor with full disabled access.
Although we run our sessions in a church, we are not a religious group, we draw on all sacred traditions in our work as well as secular songs.
So if you're an 'only in the bath' singer, a would be performer, or you just feel the need for more fun in your life
THIS IS IT!
Workshop & Concert with Lea Morris: A Joyful Gathering of Voices
In October 2025 Hackney Voices Community Choir and Joanna Foster were thrilled to host a vibrant workshop and concert led by the inspiring singer/songwriter and choral composer Lea Morris. The day was filled with music, laughter, and connection as singers of all backgrounds came together to share in the power of harmony. Lea’s warm teaching style and uplifting songs brought out the best in everyone, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity that carried through to her wonderful solo evening performance.
